7 New Members for Ohio Job's Daughters!

Hello Everyone!

The last week was really busy!  Last Saturday we had the Statewide HIKE at Big Walnut Skate rink in Sunbury, Ohio.  We had over 60 people from all over the state present and thanks to many generous donations and Celeste's Silent Auction we raised over $900!  Many thanks to Mrs. Amie Fleck who organized this fun event.

On Tuesday, 11/8, Bethel 55 initiated Lexi at District 3's dual OV.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it as I was very under the weather, but thanks to Mr. E for covering for me.  I heard they had a great time and did a great job.

This past weekend was packed with fun and travel.  Saturday we traveled to Bethel 75 in Middletown for District 2's triple OV where they initiated 5 new members!  Kyla and Ciara were initiated into Bethel 7, Reagan was initiated into Bethel 12 and Alicia and Sierra were initiated into Bethel 75.  Our OMC, Celeste, presided as HQ and everyone did a fantastic job relating the story of Job to the 5 candidates.

Sunday myself, Mr. E, Mrs. Davies, Mrs. Prince, Celeste, Ashley, Alexis, Kaitlyn, Tiffany, Julia and Stephanie all traveled to Middleport for Bethel 62 & 65's dual OV.  Mackenzie from Bethel 65 presided beautifully over the meeting and initiation where Destiny was initiated for Bethel 62.  We had fun fellowship after the meeting with a lot of Gum :)  Our caravan stopped in Athens for a nice dinner at Bob Evans.

Several of us will be attending the State Master Councilor and the Grand Worthy Advisor's receptions next weekend to wrap up our official travels for the season.  We hope you all have a safe and happy holidays and we hope to see you all in January at our Statewide Initiation on January 28th at Northland Temple in Columbus.

Safe Travels to all,

Brandi

Boy has this been a busy fall season. Many OV's have been completed and 2 CAV classes. The Grand Guardian Mrs.Bright and I have accompanied our OMJD,GBHQ,and OMC to all the Grand masonic body banquets in the past weeks. The Ohio Miss did a fabulous job making speeches to all. It has been great to see everyone at each of the bethels as we make the rounds. There are 3 more OV's to go, district 3 at Bethel 55 with Bethel 11, district 2 at Bethel 75 with 12 and 7 on Saturday the 12th of Nov. Sunday the 13th the last OV is at Bethel 62 in Middleport with Bethel 65. The Skate for Hike was fabulous. If you missed that it was a great time. Thanks to Amy F. for all her work. We are looking forward to the statewide initiation on Jan.28,2012 in Columbus . The Supreme Guardian will be there for her visit to Ohio. Also keep in mind JDU winter weekend is right after that in February. Thanks to all for your hospitality that we received along the way.

H.I.K.E. fundraiser

Hello jobie sisters!
I hope that everyone is getting excited for the Skate for H.I.K.E. event. Being a figure skater I'm hoping to not fall on my hiney several times :P I'm looking forward to seeing all my jobie sisters and watching the adults skating/falling/skating with us :)
This year, at the Skate for H.I.K.E. event, I was hoping that each bethel would donate a basket for a silent auction. These baskets can contain anything and/or be themed if you would like, as long as everything in it is jobie appropriate :) All the proceeds will go to H.I.K.E. The baskets will be bid on at the event.
Ideas for baskets could be movie themed, jobie themed, and for the beginner skater a first aid kit with ice packs and padding. Be creative and have fun. It all goes to a good cause.
I hope that all the bethels will participate by donating a basket, enjoying the skating and maybe, you can go home with a basket of your own at this great fundraiser. I can't wait to see you at the skate for H.I.K.E.
Jobie love,
Celeste Prince

A Great Jobie Weekend and a lot of Chicken (Banquets)!

Last weekend many Daughters and Adults from all over the state traveled to Warren for Bethels 49 & 31's Official Visits.  Both Bethels had very nice OVs and had support from Bethel Sisters from several different Bethels.  Bethel 49 initiated a new member, named Brandie.  The Bethels had a nice lunch of soup and salad in between the meetings and there were many fun things available to see and purchase for HIKE.  Later that evening I had the opportunity to chill out and go swimming with the GBHQ Ashley, OMC Celeste and Alyssa P back at the hotel.  What a great way to relax after a long day of meetings!

The next day we traveled to Bethel 80 in Akron for their OV.  They had a great turnout and honored their Grand Bethel Officers and HIKE Rep.  They also initiated a new member, Cassie.  It was great to see so many people fill the sidelines and the Grand Bethel girls look fabulous in their Hot Pink Dresses!  It was a long weekend of Jobie fun, but lots of fun and fellowship was shared by all.

The next day, OMJD Elizabeth, Mr. Eisleben and myself, traveled to the Grand Council Banquet in Columbus.  We also attended the Grand Chapter banquet and the Grand Commandry banquet this week too.    Elizabeth represented Ohio Job's Daughters very well by giving 3 thoughtful and meaningful speaches throughout the week.  It was great to visit with DeMolay's State Master Councelor, Bob, and Rainbow's Grand Worthy Advisor, Holly, as well as many officers of the other Masonic bodies.  However, it did seem like we ate a whole lot of chicken!

We are now in the full swing of fall and the changing of the leaves is a beautiful sight.  I hope you all are enjoying the cooler weather and all the fun things that come with it, football, hayrides, pumpkins and bonfires.

Here are some of the coming events:
October 19 Bethel 10 & 69 OV @ Bethel 10 in Springfield 7pm
October 29 Bethel 22 & 71 OV @ Bethel 71 in Groveport 4pm, followed by the Fall Ball, all are welcome
October 30 Bethel 35 & 61 OV @ Bethel 35 in Girard 4pm, preceded by Niles Halloween parade @ 12pm
November 5 Statewide HIKE at Big Walnut Skate Club in Sunbury, Ohio 2:30pm

We hope to see you soon!

September is Almost Over!

Well school has started and many Jobie meetings have begun. Hope everyone is studying their parts and floorwork.

Our first OV for the Fall term is September 26th at Bethel #28. This is #28 & #45 joint OV. I understand they will be taking in two new girls, one for each Bethel. That is awesome! Girls get out there and get some petitions. Last year we started on the up move again, let's keep it climbing!

As some of you may not know, I have stepped down as BG from Bethel #45. Jami Heyder Oyster is now the new BG. Jami has done this before and I am sure she will do a good job. I wish the best of luck to her and all the council members.

Mr. Anderson and I have been working on some ideas for the 2013-2014 Grand Session and will be sending out forms to your bethel. We would like the girls to help give ideas on what they would like to do at Job a Rama, Winter Weekend, etc. at our Session. We have some good ideas, but we want to make sure they are what you would like also.

Also, we are going to do some fundraisers over the next two years to help raise money to help defray some of the cost of our state events so maybe more girls can attend. We have many ideas and would sure love to have your help.

October is looking to be a very busy month for EVERYONE! Please be safe in your travels and will check in later.

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to express how much fun Job a Rama was this year! It was a great weekend! I started off by attending the Grand Bethel overnight at Hiram Lodge in Delaware, Ohio with the girls getting ready for School of Instruction. Friday we held practice and went swimming. We had a good splashing and dunking battle going strong until we had to leave the pool due to thunder. We declared the battle to continue Saturday at Job a Rama!

On Saturday the girls were put into teams to play games which was part of the School of Instruction. In one game the girls had to match the name and title of some of the Grand Offices. (I do believe we need to have Mr. Hampton put a sign on his back saying "Grand Treasurer".) Another game, they had cards for each bethel officer and they had to place them in the closing cross formation, plus many more games. We had quite a few Jobie to Bee's there who really enjoyed these games. Everyone had a great time!

Then the water battle was on! It took 15 girls to dunk Mr. Anderson but they finally got him! It was a site to see!!!

Later we had a talent show and the girls did a terrific job, even getting the adults involved. These girls have great imaginations! A fun time was had by everyone.

Thank you Mrs. Oyster and crew for a terrific weekend!

14th District Masonic Picnic

What a fun time we had today! Girls from Bethel #28, 69 & 45 and some DeMolay spent the day with their families at the 14th District Masonic Picnic at Highbanks Park! The girls were asked to be in charge of the activities for the small children that would be attending. We had face painting, fishing, sand art and several little girls became princesses for the day by decorating their own crowns! It was so much fun watching them put their crowns on with their play jewelry we gave them. I could see several future "Jobies" coming up.

I would like to thank the Prince family for all the hard work painting faces, especially Mr. Prince who was able to paint a bunny rabbit on my face for me! Anyone ever needing help with face painting, give them a call!

We also had some clowns (thanks to Mrs. Craven's group) that made balloon animals for the children. Lots of food, desserts and even "snow cones" and great company!

Good job girls!!!!!!

We're Back from Supreme Session!

Hello Ohio!

We just got back from Supreme Session in St. Louis, Missouri.  The Ohio delegation had over 30 people representing us throughout the week.  Our daughters performed beautifully in everything they did and had a lot of fun.  Even the adults had a little fun along the way.

We started out the week with a long drive, but were graciously greeted by our Grand Librarian, Katheryn Neudecker and her family and friends.  They hosted our Ohio dinner at St. Trinity Lutheran church with a great meal and a presentation about the host city.

Tuesday was competition and practice day.  All of our daughters competed in individual ritual competitions as well as the Messenger Team competition.  Elizabeth began activities in the MIJD competition.  Several daughters participated in practices for the Formal Opening.  We had a second state gathering at the Hard Rock Cafe at the historic Union Station and later attended the HIKE dance.

Wednesday began a long week of meetings and deliberations for the daughters and adults.  The daughters attended Jobie Congress where they witnessed and were able to comment on the proposed changes to the Ritual.  We attended the Royalty Lunch where we were able to meet and interact with Honored Queens and Princesses from all over the world.  The adults attended the Supreme Guardian Council meeting and began the long process of making changes to the Ritual.  By the end of the week many thoughtful discussions were held and I believe the daughters will be happy with the majority of the changes made for their benefit.
We attended the formal banquet and the Formal Opening.  Our OMJD, Elizabeth, escorted the Ohio Flag and Angela L from Bethel #69 escorted the flag of Motto Grosso, Brazil as Supreme Bethel Marshal Jessica H. narrated.  Our GBHQ Ashley, OMC Celeste and Alexis L SP #45 participated in the Royalty formation and cross to close the ceremony.  Elizabeth and Destiny W (not present) from #49 were recognized for collecting over $1000 for HIKE.  A scholarship was named in honor of Mrs. Tedrick and Mr. Terrill for creating the HIKE fund 25 years ago.

On Thursday the girls attended the Supreme Bethel Meeting where Jessica was selected as SB Marshal, Angela as SB Rep to Minas Gerais, Brazil and Alexis as SB Rep to Rio Grande du Sol, Brazil.  The new SBHQ is from Oregon.  The adults retired to the SGC meeting to continue the arduous job of revising the Ritual while the girls and chaperones went to the Spaghetti Factory and the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial (aka "The Arch").  That night we went to the Miss International Jobs Daughter Pageant.  Our OMJD Elizabeth did a wonderful job representing Ohio.  The new MIJD is from Alberta Canada.  Following the pageant we went to Ted Drewes frozen custard (a St. Louis specialty) for a late night treat and then for what the girls call "Fourth Meal" at IHOP where a lively time was had by the girls and adults.

Friday the adults got a break from the last day of ritual revisions to attend the Awards Luncheon with the girls.  Congratulations to Elizabeth, who placed third in the 2nd messenger, Jessica, who placed second in 3rd messenger and Celeste, who placed first in 4th messenger.  No matter of awards, we were all so proud of our Ohio girls.  They all did a great job and represented us so well.  Later that evening we attended the Supreme Bethel installation and coronation ball.  At midnight, after the dance, all the daughters gathered in the South Tower to sing "Nearer My God to Thee".  It was a beautiful sight to see and hear.

Saturday was a day off for most and we took advantage of that by heading to City Museum.  It is a unique art museum where the majority of the art and sculptures have been made of all types of recycled materials.  The whole building offers interactive displays, structures and caverns.  The girls had a blast climbing on, under and through the multitude of caverns and slides throughout the building.  After the museum we made a trip to Crowne Candy, another St. Louis specialty where the girls stocked up on candy and ice cream treats.  That evening we went to the SGC installation where Ohio's own Lloyd Brink from Bethel #49 was installed as Supreme Junior Custodian.  The installation was a delightful change from what we were used to.  The Supreme Guardian, Bobbie Hoglund from Maryland did a great job of making the installation more "daughter friendly".  They used popular music and kept the remarks and presentations short and it was completed in under 2 hours.  The most impressive presentation was presented by the daughters and adults of Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Delaware.  It was a Flash Mob!  A couple of girls started a choreographed dance to Bruno Mars "Just the Way You Are" as other girls and adults continued to join in.  It was a fun and touching tribute to the Supreme Guardian.  After the installation, the girls and a few adults went back to the City Museum for a flashlight tour.  The whole museum was opened back up with the lights dimmed.  We all had a fun time hunting each other down though the many caverns and slides.  Even the GG took a trip down the 10 story curvy slide from the the top of the building to the bottom!  We ended the evening or should I say "started the morning" at Steak and Shake.

I have many thanks for all of the adults who made the week so great for everyone, but a few special thank yous go out to Katheryn Neudecker for planning the sight seeing tours and trips, Kris Smith for coaching our messenger team and for chauffeuring people back and forth from our hotel to the Millenium, to Linda Davies for making sandwiches for picnic lunch on the way to St. Louis and for also chauffeuring people back and forth.  Katrina Hightower, Mr & Mrs. Selby and especially Ken Harrington were also super duper chauffeurs throughout the week.  Hopefully I didn't miss anyone, but everyone appreciated the assistance that you all provided.

That wraps up my report for now.  A few of the daughters will also be posting about their highlights of the week.  Job-a-Rama is just around the corner, I know Mrs. Oyster has a lot of fun things planned for all.  I'm looking forward to seeing you all there!

See ya Soon!

Ohio Caravan is on the Move

Hello Again!

Next week will be busy for some of our Ohio people! We are making arrangements for our "Road Trip" to Supreme Session in St. Louis, Missouri. The Ohio Messenger Team (Elizabeth, Ashley, Jessica, Alexis, Angela and Celeste)have been practicing hard for their competetion at Supreme in the Ritual Competition. They also have been making several appearances at local Masonic Lodges and Eastern Star meetings performing the Story of Job. For some of these girls, it will be their first time ever going to a Supreme Event and I am sure they are excited. Please make sure to wish these girls "Good Luck" and let them know your supporting them!!!!

Supreme Session is a very exciting event. It is very busy and you meet a lot of people from other states and countries. Yes, Brazil, Philippines, Canada and Australia are always will represented! It is very interesting talking with the people and discovering how their Bethels function.

For District 1, please do not forget about the 14 District Masonic Picnic on August 7 at Highbanks Park North of Columbus. We have volunteered to be in charge of the Kid Zone at this event. Our OMJD Elizabeth is working to put together some events for the children. If you have any ideas, please send your ideas to Elizabeth. For more information, see the 14 District Masonic website.

Also, just a FYI, our Masons at Avery Lodge #493 is having an Ice Cream Social at Avery Lodge on August 6 from 2 to 6pm. They are accepting pie donations from anyone who would be willing to donate. The cost is $5.00 for ice cream and pie. Come and enjoy a day of friendship with our Masons outdoors.

Hope everyone is enjoying the Ohio Messenger and their summer! Remember Job a Rama is just around the corner.

Well, I am closing for now. Will report more later.

Meet our Grand Bethel Honored Queen!

Hi everyone!  My name is Ashley and I am so excited to be your Grand Bethel Honored Queen this year!  I am a Past Honored Queen of Bethel #69 in Gahanna.  I go to Big walnut High School. At school I'm in choir, Drama club, color guard and am going to be taking my fourth year of German.  I love to read; mostly fantasy and love.  I have a brother that I love dearly.  I love being in Job's and it's something that I will be involved in even after I reach majority.

Hope to see you all in my travels,
Ashley

Meet our Ohio Miss Congeniality!

So a little about me. My name is Celeste and I am a PHQ and current HQ of Bethel #45 in Hilliard.  I attend Hilliard Darby High School where I am in the Concert Orchestra.  Outside of school, I do Figure Skating, Girl Scouts, and of course: Job's! I also enjoy reading fantasy books and watching t.v.  My mom works at Cardinal Health and my Dad works at the Port Columbus Airport.  My sister, Alyssa, is a Job's Daughter as well and enjoys reading a lot.  I'm always available if anyone needs a friend to talk to.

Hugs and Smiles,
Celeste

Meet our Ohio Miss Job's Daughter!

Hello Ohio Job’s Daughters!  I am so very excited to be representing you for the 2011-2012 year.  So a little bit about me:
I was born here in Gahanna, Ohio then I moved to Ahwatukee, Arizona and lived there for about 10 years.   Then I moved back to Ohio and started at Dublin Jerome High School in Dublin, Ohio, where I was involved in a ton of clubs and sports. This past year I graduated from Dublin Jerome and decided to head off to The University of Akron to major in Athletic Training.  A lot of people have asked why I chose this major, and it’s because I love the work environment.  I won’t be doing the same thing every day, and I have always loved sports.  I am proud to say that I was accepted into the Emerging Leaders program at Akron, so I will be involved with all the musicians, comedians, magicians, etc. that come to campus. And this means that I am in Richie Hall, if anyone wants to stop by and visit me!

I got involved in with Job’s daughters just about 3 years ago.  I am a Past Honored Queen of Bethel #28 in Columbus and your Ohio Miss Job’s Daughter for this year.  I am also coming to the end of my term as Sweetheart for Linden Chapter of DeMolay.  My dad works at Huntington Bank and my mom is at home for the time being.  I have a crazy black lab named Harley and a strange cat named Pumpkin.  When I am not at Job’s I can be found at the mall, at the pool, or at the movies!
Just so you know my phone is always on and my door is always open, so if anyone needs someone to talk to please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me!  I can’t wait to see you in my travels and I want to help make this year an awesome year for Ohio Job’s Daughters!!

Jobie Love,
Elizabeth

Hello from the Grand Guide

Hello!

I thought I would tell you a little bit about myself and family. I had never heard of Job's Daughters until my husband became involved as a Mason. I have been involved with Job's Daughters off and on for 28 years. I have three daughters, Kelly, Kris & Kit. I am a grandmother of six and recently a great grandmother of two. Two daughters, two granddaughters and a sister in law are PHQ's of Bethel #45. My youngest daughter is a Past Sr. Princess of #64 (all are Majority Members) and my in laws were PBG & PABG for Bethel #45. The best for last, and one Past Grand Guardian, Kris Smith. That is a lot of history!

I was raised in Grove City, Ohio and now live in Galloway, Ohio. My husband is Dave and he is the current WM of Avery Lodge #493 in Hilliard, Ohio. We enjoy boating and traveling. I have a dog named Molly (who is very spoiled) and 7 house "rabbits". Their names are, Petey, Timmy, Pandora, Louie, Otis, Stormy and my baby, Grizelda (whose picture is on my facebook profile). These rabbits were all abandoned and we adopted them. They have become our little "kids".

Now some news about District 1:

District 1 was well represented in two parades. On Saturday, July 2, 2011 our GBHQ Ashley and OMJD Elizabeth along with Alexis from Bethel #45, rode in the Reynoldsburg parade and represented Job's Daughters very well.

On July 4, 2011 we again had our OMJD Elizabeth and GBJP Cindy along with some of the GB officers and representatives. We also had a mom and a Jobie to Bee in the Hilliard Parade. It was a very long parade! After both parades we had cookouts and enjoyed the time together. Already making plans for next year parade!

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays! Parades, cookouts, friends and family!!!! Nothing could be any better. I hope everyone had a good 4th of July and I am looking forward to Supreme Session.

Remember to wish the Ohio Messenger Team good luck in their competition!!

A new year with Bright Beginnings!

We just got home from another great Grand Session of Ohio Job's Daughters!  This year's Grand Session was held at Youngstown Masonic Temple with lodging at Youngstown State University.  A big thank you to Mrs. Pat Wolf and Mrs. Sandy Hampton and all of their helpers for making this another memorable session!  Thank you also to Tim Flack, building manager at Youngstown Masonic Temple for everything he did to make things run smoothly at the temple.  Miss Shawn and Dad C had a great time planned for all and did a wonderful job carrying out their duties.

I can not tell you how excited I am to be your new Grand Guardian!  This year we hope to turn all of your Job's Daughters Dreams into Reality!  Just to tell you a little bit about myself, I am a Past Honored Queen from Bethel #22 in Delaware, Ohio.  I have also served on my Bethel Guardian Council as Custodian of Paraphernalia, Director of Epochs, Director of Music and Bethel Guardian.  I am also a Past Matron of George L. Behrens Chapter #504 Order of Eastern Star.  My husband, Steve, and I have 2 boys Evan and Braden who I'm sure you will see in my travels around the state.  My favorite colors are "Bright" Pink and Lime Green and I love Gerbera Daisies!  I currently have a home based custom cake business called "Bright Delights" and I also teach cake decorating at Michaels.  When I'm not working, traveling for Job's Daughters or spending time with my family, my guilty pleasure is Reality TV.  I love all the singing, dancing, cooking, design and competition shows on television.

Enough about me!  I am so excited to be working with some really great people this year!  Mr. Ted Eisleben is your 2011-2012 Associate Grand Guardian from Bethel 71 in Groveport, Ohio.  You will be hearing from him soon!

We are also joined by Ohio Miss Job's Daughter, Elizabeth H. Bethel 28 in Columbus, Miss Congeniality, Celeste P. Bethel 45 in Hilliard and your Grand Bethel Honored Queen, Ashley W. That's about all for now.  Thanks for reading our very first Ohio Messenger Blog Post!   Please leave a comment and let us know what you think about our new blog!  Check back often to read about our travels and all the fun things going on in OH-IO!
